Siódemka (the Seven), the name selected for the project, refers to its pivotal and highly accessible location on the S7 Warsaw to Gdańsk express road. Within a few hundred meters of the site, two other major routes converge on Elbląg – the S22 from Kaliningrad, and the E22 from Malbork.
The project consists of two major tasks. First task is to construct the new junction called “Lotnisko”, which will connect the shopping centre with S7 road, and the second task is to construct the shopping centre with feeder roads connecting the centre with new junction called “Lotnisko” and the Akacjowa Street.
The centre will comprise two principal elements – a mall anchored by a hypermarket, fashion and other retail anchors and a retail park anchored by a DIY store. The centre will also consist of open car park, rain water reservoir, firewater pump station and firewater tanks. In accordance to concept design the total GLA equals 67.200,00 m2.
The whole complex is in general a one-storey bloc and only in some parts of the buildings are designed additional floors, which will be used as retail, office, social etc.
First step to construction is Enabling Works Tender which has been announced late November 2011 and carried during December with planned contract signing in January 2012. Due to environmental appeals, the construction process and tender have been put on hold for the next three months.
